Card was established in 2008 on the principle that farmers, especially those in rural communities deserve access to meaningful employment and a higher quality of life. We in CARD believe that people don't want to be perpetually dependent on the goodwill of other people in order to live meaningfully, but rather they want a means of supporting themselves and their families with dignity. We provide that opportunity through training in alternative income generating activities, effective policy advocacy and research on topical agricultural issues.

In living up to our Mission and also within the framework of our activities, CARD has established close linkage with local and international civil society organisations for effective advocacy.

The scope of our activities cut- across the ten regions of Ghana. We focus on building rural agrarian communities, youths and women groups.

Our History
(CARD) was officially registered as an NGO on 21st November, 2008. Prior to the registration, the officials of CARD have been involved in many civil society activities aimed at enhancing the livelihoods of people especially in the informal economy.
CARD started full operation in December 2008 in a small office located at No. 9 Abelenkpe Avenue – Accra.
It started small with two projects which were collaborations with other NGOs.
The first project was a capacity development project to help small farmers in the Dangme West District of the Greater Accra region to generate extra income for their activities through entrepreneurship development.

A second project which was undertaken in collaboration with Young Framers Association was focused on training young farmers around Ashaiman to acquire skills in modern methods of farming and creating the platform for the young farmers to  acquire knowledge and skills on best practices.
